Smart Charging and Depot Load Management
Charge Every Vehicle On Time, Inside Your Electrical Limits
SmartCharge decides how much power every charger gets, together and continuously, so each site, panel and circuit stays within the limits you set and every vehicle is ready for its route.
Power, Balanced Across the Whole Depot
Instead of pushing a fixed profile to one charger at a time, SmartCharge allocates power across every charger as one system.
Your electrical layout, modeled
Describe the depot as a tree: one site, its panels, and their circuits. Each has a kW limit, an optional per-phase amp limit, and room reserved for lighting, compressors and other load that is not a charger.
Power shared as one system
SmartCharge allocates power across every charger together, at every level of the tree, so a sub-panel stays inside its limit even when the site as a whole has headroom.
Each vehicle at its own pace
Allocations respect each vehicle's AC limit, phase count and DC charging curve. When a vehicle draws less than it was offered, the difference goes to vehicles that can use it.
Built to Stay Inside Your Limits
Load management is a control system with physical consequences. SmartCharge treats it that way.
A safety margin at every node
Allocations stay within 90 percent of every limit you set, after reserved load and the full rating of any charger SmartCharge does not manage.
Every plan checked before it is sent
An independent verifier checks each plan per node and per phase, including the case where every idle stall starts at once. A plan that fails is never sent.
Limits that hold without the cloud
Each charger holds a safe default share that keeps the site within limits even if every stall draws at once. Extra power is a short lease the charger falls back from on its own if the network or cloud goes away.
Offline chargers counted conservatively
A charger that drops offline keeps its committed power reserved. One that has never been seen keeping its profiles across a reboot is counted at its full rating.
Actual draw checked against the plan
SmartCharge compares metered power with each allocation. A charger that keeps drawing more is flagged, planned around, and raises an alert.
Per-phase and IEC 61851-1 aware
Single-phase vehicles are counted on the phase they load. AC charging is never set below 6 A; the stall pauses instead.
On-Time Readiness, Not Just Charging
The goal is operational: routes leave on time at the charge they need. SmartCharge schedules around departures and priority.
Ready-by targets from shifts
Give each vehicle a recurring schedule, for example "Van 12 leaves 06:30 Monday to Friday at 80 percent," with one-off overrides when plans change.
Departure times from the vehicle
Where ISO 15118 is available, the vehicle reports its own departure time over the cable, and SmartCharge plans around it.
Priority when power is short
Low-priority vehicles pause first, then the latest departures. Vehicles at risk of missing their target move up, and vehicles of equal priority take turns.
Boost when you need it
Charge one vehicle at the most power safety allows for up to 12 hours or until it leaves. Boosts are still verified and logged with who started them.
Works with the chargers you already run
Load management runs on OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0.1 chargers, AC and DC, from different vendors in the same depot. Site limits are set with your electrician or engineer. SmartCharge keeps charging inside them.
Keep the depot inside its limits and every route ready to roll.
